LG KF 510
LG announced its latest fashion phone, the KF 510. The KF 510 is without a doubt the finest work of LG. It comes in two colors, Stardust Dark Gray and Sunset Red. LG put a lot of emphasis on the look and feel of this phone so that is where we will begin.
Design:
The phone is constructed mainly of metal and glass and has a full metal finish. On the front of the phone we have a nice display having dimensions 2.2″ 240 x 320 pixel. Below the display are a number of touch sensitive buttons which further adds to the beauty of the phone. When active they emit a soft white or red glow. The touch sensitive buttons were a huge problem in the original chocolate, as they would get pressed by themselves and the phone would perform actions by itself such as deleting of contacts or making a phone call. 
Hopefully LG realized this and fixed this problem in the KF 510. On the top of the display is a light sensor which allows the KF510’s screen brightness to adjust depending on ambient lighting conditions. The light sensor could easily be mistaken for a front camera.
On the the left of the lg cell phone we have the volume up and down keys whereas on the right we have the port for data cable and charger along with the lock function. The camera appears when the phone is opened which is a good thing since the slider function also serves as the lens cover and protects the lens from undesirable scratches.
Camera:
The KF 510 has a powerful 3.0 Mega Pixel camera with a built in power flash having 1 second response time. with the flash we also have a self portrait mirror. 
The camera interface is user friendly and has loads of options the phone also has an anti shake feature which will definitely improve the quality of the camera. The camera is the fastest I have seen, photos are saved as soon as they are taken therefore we do not have to wait for the camera before we can take the next shot. The images taken with the 3.0 meag pixel camera are of extremely high quality and can be considered as the most capable 3.0 mega pixel cameras in the market. In terms of video recording the KF 510 supports QVGA resolution, which is to be expected from a 3 mega pixel camera.
Music:
[smartads]The KF 510 comes with an advanced Mp3 player that can automatically sort music into play lists or categories. It sorts tracks by three different criteria – artist, album and genre. You can also create your own playlist if you like. The music player consists of 10 pre-set equalizer settings, unfortunately none of them can be modified and new ones cannot be created.

I have bought a red KF510 last week. I generally satisfied with this handset for it’s nice features, but I’m rather unsatisfied with the mp3player, as it is not as good as SE’s mp3 player. can I install another mp3player (like SE’s)to this phone? how?
I install some java application, but the pone keeps asking me permission to read data files! I tried to change the permission setting in the application settings, but I can’t. how can I change it?

This is a java phone and sadly you cannot install any new applications in java phones. The ones that do get installed dont work properly and dont have full access to the phone,
So you will just have to get used to the applications present on the phone
Symbian sets on the other hand allow all types of third party applications to be installed

I purchased an LG KF510 back in september and initially had problems with the keypad (it did not work when a sim was inserted) and the repair took almost 3 months because the problem kept re-occurring. Now the keypad works but I am having other problems.
1. I keep getting a message saying “service detached” during my calls (which cuts out the call) or when I’m browsing the menu or text messaging. It’s frustrating because it changes all my settings back to the default (e.g. the ringtone changes to a tone from the phone and not my memory card) also people’s phone number’s show up as new call even though I have their number.
2. Another more recent problem is the message “sim card removed, please insert sim and turn phone on” this happens during a call or when browsing. My only option is to press OK and the phone automatically turns off and then I have to turn it back on and this can occur 3-4 times in a row and no one can call in/out.
I don’t want to bring it back to the shop because it takes way too long for them to get it repaired and by then all my warranty will be used up due to the extended repair periods.
If you could help that would be appreciated.

Youve got some phone there, I have never seen or heard of any cases that you explain with the KF-510
You problems are unique and not common to the KF 510. Here we have a policy that if a set is returned 3 times in the warranty period then we are given a new set. Find out if a similar policy exists with your warranty providers.
If all else fails, give it back in warranty and tell them to flash the phone for you. Flashing is when the old software is removed and is replaced by a fresh installation. As your problems appear to be software related.
Also you can try resetting the phone from the settings menu, there is a slim chance that may fix your phone.

for zoomining..Take camera>>>Options>>>Resolution…select a lesser resolution..Then u can Zoom the Camera by Pressing the volume control keys

I have a problem with the clock. Everytime the phone has been switched off the I have to set the clock. It’s almost of the clock doesn’t continue when switched off.
Also the option auto adjust clock doesn’t seem to work.

Both of you seem to have faulty devices. like hardware faults..
Erwin, the time should never be reset on any phone just by turning it off.. if u dont remove the battery and the time resets just by turning the phone off then there is some problem with your handset. if its still in warranty, try claiming it.
another solution could be to fix the battery in one place. Is your battery loose? try placing a thin piece of folded paper between the battery and the back cover plate, so that the battery is tightly fixed…maybe that fixes the problem.
try that and then let me know what happens.
Masha, youre saying that your battery does not hold charge at all?? Are you sure your charger is working properly? If ur charger is fine then your battery is done for, ull have to get a new one

when you say, “now it was half empty”, do you mean right after u unplugged the charger or after using it for a couple of hours. if so then i will need a bit more info. What were u using your phone for? were you listening to songs or using the camera? or were u talking on the phone?

Well Masha, you should know that the battery of KF 510 is not that good…. A brand new set is able to get almost 1 day from a full charge..
So id say that is pretty normal for your set..

i also had a tough time finding the manual for this phone. Though i did find one but it was in another language. I posted its download link somewhere in the comments above. Maybe its in a language you can understand.
hi everyone, i love this phone, i have one but i cant understand why there are so many problem with it.
1. When i text, on the screen where it said sending message, if i get a text coming in at the same time the screen that said sending message, the phone freezes.
2. when i fuly charged the phone, i turn on the music for like a song and it would say low battery, then out of battery and shut down but battery is full, same with video camera.
3. when i get a call coming in, i slide the phone up to answer but it would turn off out of nowhere for no reason. it would turn off frequently when i slide up or down. all these problems occur when the phone is fully charged.
i took it to a phone service and they said they couldn’t find anything wrong with it, i opened it up myself and don’t see anything wrong with it.
Do you know anything about these problems admin? i was thinking of getting this phone again but afraid i might deal with these problems again. thank you and sorry for writing so much.

After dealing with this phone for quite some time, I too am disappointed by the amount of support that LG has given to this model. All phones initially have problems with the firmware but these problems are eventually fixed by the company. Sadly LG is not giving this issue any weight.
Your first problem appear to be a firmware related problem while the other two are not normal and should not happen. How long after your phone gives you the low battery warning? and does this warning appear if you are not listening to music?
Similarly your third problem is not supposed to happen. I have never heard of this is is only related to your model.
The people at warranty centers are usually lazy, you will have to show them the problem or talk to one of their managers to get your phone fixed. I had a similar problem with a samsung phone of mine, they only fixed it after I complained to the manager.
You should NOT have opened the phone yourself.. by doing so you have voided your warranty and now you cannot get it repaired by the warranty service. The way I see it the only option you have is to either repair this in the open market or sell it off..
If all the KF 510 users emailed LG and told them to fix the firmware of this phone, they may just work on it.
These problems occur to me since last four months, it gets really irritating. The only reason i open the phone myself is because of LG’s lack of service in U.S. i called them and they said they can’t do anything about it because its an international phone and have to send to LG in Honk Kong, so i didn’t even bother. And the phone do turn off when not touch, usually it goes low battery, out of battery then off when nothing is being done, this is at a full charge. The big problem is that the phone turn off unexpectedly when slide up to answer call, or slide down to end call. thanks admin
This is without a doubt a hardware fault.. Like i said in my previous comment.. you should get this fixed by taking it to a local repair shop.. theyll ofcourse charge you for the repairs but atleast youll have a working set.. or you can sell it in this state but that wont get you much and then buy another set.
Im sorry but the state you cellphone is in, it can only be fixed by a hardware professional and there is nothing I can do or advise you to do from here that would fix your phone..sorry…hope your phone gets fixed

Iv had this phone since it was released in the UK, and have had no problems until now. Due to my iPod breaking, iv been looking to ultlise the music player. When i connect to my PC I am unable to get to my memory card, so I can only add a few songs till its full, disconnect and then tranfer to card. This is a lengthy process, which there must be a way to get around? To try and combat this, i added my music quickly and easily to my old phone (Sony Ericson k750i RED) Then when trying to send across via bluetooth i cannot send to my memory card, and as such cannot select all my files and leave to send all day. I am left with my old problem of having to send a couple, tranfer to card and start again. Please help!
PS, iv found that if i quickly open and close the phone(solong as the pad is lit) about 6 times it will turn off. this is not a problem, rather a nuisance, as i often fiddle with it when listening to music.

This is a known problem with kf 510. Their music player is quite bugged.. if you read some comments above this one youll notice many complaining about it and me complaining about the lack of support from LG. LG should have fixed these problems by now. The only solution would be if all the KF 510 users emailed LG and told them to fix the firmware of this phone, they may just work on it.
Almost all phones cannot access the memory card directly, the file is first transferred to the phone memory and then must be manually transferred to the card. When you say you “cant access” your card what do you mean.. you cant access it in the music player or you cant access it at all, even in the file manager..??
Also if you get yourself a card reader you can transfer all of your songs directly to your card via your PC.

I bought my phone on Ebay and I’m having the same problems. I sent it back to the seller for a warranty claim (he offered a one year) and now he is claiming that there is no problems with my phone, refuses to fix it, and will not send it back to me unless i send him money for shipping.
I do not know what to do. Emily, if you could take a photo of your phone screen (I hope you have the red!) when it has these behaviors, so I could use it for reference, that would be so helpful.

I’ve had enough of this phone to be honest with you. I didn’t want to send it in for repair as it takes ages, so I am waiting to get a new phone and then I will send it in for repair, but I doubt they will do anything for me. Tiff, unfortunately I do not have the red one, and can’t take a photo for you because it happens out of the blue, more recently it just says service detached but goes back to normal instantly, so I find it very hard even trying to convince the people at the phone shop that something is even wrong with my phone because it’s unpredictable and does not occur when you need it to. I know its frustrating and have learned my lesson not to buy an LG phone again.

Hey there sid, If you are looking for a music phone then im afraid this one is not for you. This is a great phone but sadly LG just stopped supporting it. As you must have read above in the comments there are some annoying errors with the firmware of this phone including the building error which is produced while loading your playlist thus if you plan on listening to a lot of music you just check out some other set

Sorry Ashfaq, but that is not possible. You cannot transfer songs directly to the memory card via bluetooth. The files will first have to be transferred to the phone memory from where you will have to manually transfer them to the card.

I have the same problem that Emily has had with the LG kf510 . Ive had it for almost a year and the past few months it has been detaching from the service and also puts on the screen that no sim card inserted and to shut the phone off and insert one?? I was wondering if you had found out any more about this problem yet and what to do to fix it. Thank you

my lg kf510 won’t play mp4 videos i add but when my friend bluetoothed me a mp4 video,it worked..is it because the one i added in was too big because its like 18 MB…

LG KF 510 can play mp4 files. there can be many reasons why your friends file worked but yours didnt.
Your file may have a very high fps or it may be of very large dimensions.. however the size has nothing to do with it, your mp4 file can be 50MB and the cell phone should play it.
LG KF 510 has a screen dimension of 240 x 320 Pixels. so make sure your mp4 is near these dimensions.. you can convert videos to mp4 and also set the options such as dimensions and fps by using the free video converter SUPER. you can download it from here: http://www.softpedia.com/get/Multimedia/Video/Encoders-Converter-DIVX-Related/SUPER.shtml
sir i wanted to know whether this KF 510 model has been upgraded to any other model. off later when i went to purchase the phone i was told that LG has stopped its production due to non existance of navigational key on the phone. if it is upgraded to any other model, do the new version have the same beauty as the older one. you are also requested to intimate the MRP of KF 510 in Oman and India at an early date
It is true that LG KF 510 are no longer being manufactured, the reason may be the numerous faults that were present in the set. A set is never replaced.. they just keep building new ones. So my keypad doesn’t work during a call. It won’t let me delete voicemails, or save, etc. This happens when I am using automated services. Pressing numbers doesn’t have any effects at all. Please help.
What exactly do you mean by automated services? also what i can collect from your comment is that your keypad does not work during a call…. which is normal for this model…. and not that big a problem.
I’m suprised you say it’s ‘not that big a problem’. If you’ve called a company who require you to ‘press 1 for accounts’, ‘press 2 for sales’, etc, then it’s a VERY big problem if you can’t actually press a key.
Still, now we know it’s ‘not that big a problem’ everything will be fine.

How does one:
1. Transfer data from phone memory to SD card memory without using the PC?
2. Select phone memory (and not SIM memory)for contacts?

Guys, the 510 has coughed up another problem. There is this irritating chime that sounds every minute or so & while I have tried to disable it by changing the settings, theme, wallpaper, time format, etc, nothing seems to be working & the annoying chime still keeps sounding every minute. I’ll really appreciate if you cab help me getting rid of this chime, once & for all.
chime? looks like one of those periodic reminder chimes. Do you have any reminders set in the calender? or is there any new icon on your display? if none of that seems to work have you tried resetting your phone to default factory settings. That will wash away any reminders/alarms/messages causing the chime.
